discography

Yoshio Machida's first sound work was field recording in 90s. When he was working for international cooperation, he got some opportunities to record interesting sounds in rare places in developing countries. He collected sound materials and collaged them with noise, electronic sound and ethnic instruments, especially gongs ("Hypernatural" series). In 2001, he started to play Steel Pan instead of gongs for expanding his sound expression, sometimes with laptop (sound processing by Max/MSP). He tries to pursue possibility of live music, influenced from Indian traditional sitar music.
